School Bag

The play"School Bag" was very entertaining and interesting. It showed what carried on before school, during break and after school when adults are not present in a child's life. School bag showed everything form fights to drugs. It showed how not because someone is silent that you can take advantage of them and they recognize the good in the persons around them that people may think is bad. Also School Bag talks about the stresses young people have to go through while trying to maintain or attain an education. It speaks about gangs and how they send people in undercover to corrupt and get young people into gangs. And it also talks about sex and the people who have it and feel that they are better than others. During the play different colour lights were used. The bright yellow light was used when normally during the play, and the blue light was to emphasize important aspects in the play when the play comes to its true unravelling. Also the play shows that you may act or look a certain way in front of people's faces and you could be hurting on the inside. Also the costumes or uniforms represented the part or role they had to play. Leslie in the play wore her uniform so it was revealing and showing her belly ring, Arlene wore her uniform asa preppy nerd would like one of those rich kids that know it all would so it fit with her character. Malik didn't wear a uniform but he wore yard clothes or clothes that you would expect a school drop out and gang member would with his raggedy pants and vest and slippers so he would best play the character just to name a few.
In the play the music used was very useful to where it was necessary. But although it had it great moments in the play, there was a section on the stage where the sound effects weren't strong as the other side other, which was the left side that was facing the audience that is where the audience had difficulty hearing.
The play overall was a success except for the minor glitches that occurred that was due to technical difficulties. It helped parents see what teens go through and what carries on at school when the adults are not present.

The society in Shakespeare time

The importance of being a man in shakespearean time was to have power, control, being head of the family, and going out to work to provide for yourself and your family. Being a man in those times was very important because they were seen as the provider for their families, they were the ones to go out and work to provide and maintain a living for the women in their lives. Also being a man meant you were the head of the house, in control, most to all decisions were made by the men in the house. They controlled the finances and ensured everyone ate.
Illegitimate children were viewed or looked at as bastards, unacceptable children, because they were created the wrong way in society's eyes. If they were not born in marriage they were scorned and discriminated against, and treated unfairly for actions done by their parents.
Baracoi goes against what i think because i dont think he should follow anyone who is conspiring to mess with one's name just for revenge for someone who didnt bring him any harm to his life. Its hurts the people who are involved in the getting the person who is revenged against and does less to the person who is revenged against. And I dislike this character for following a man who help hurt other to revenge against his brother.

Much ado about nothing- dramatic significance

Q1. "The savage bull may, but if ever the sensible Benedick bear it, pluck off the bull's horns and set them in my forehead, and let me be vilely painted, and in such great letters as they write 'Here is good horse to hire' let them signify under my sign 'Here you may see Benedick, the married man".(I.i215-219) Explain the dramatic significance and what it means.

A1 The dramtic significance of this quote is Benedick claiming that he will not get married and being arrogant with it because later down in the play he will contradict himself and get married. It means that he was just being nieve and arrongant to say that he will never get married because there is no woman enough to make him trust them to fall in love to get married.

Q2. "What should I do with him - dress him in my apparel and make him my waiting gentlewoman? He that hath no beard is less than a man; and he that is more than a youth is not for me, and he that is less than a man, I am not for him."(II.i 28-32) who is the speaker? What is the dramatic significance? And my interpretation.

A2. The speaker is Beatrice. The dramatic significance is that Beatrice like Benedick is also claiming that she will not get married and will contradict herself also. My interpretation of the quote is that she is basically saying there is no man made to suit her and if he is indeed made he is either too young or too old for her and for that sake she will stay single until she dies. And also i think she is saying that she was not made to be married so she will not be.

Brother Man symbolic

The novel Brother Man is symbolic because it draws refernce to the biblical days when Jesus was percecuted by the people he saved and healed and was condemed to crucifiction, so was Brother Man condemned and stoned by the same villagers whom he saved and healed as well. Also Brother man taught people lessons like Jesus did also when he bought the crab from the boy that he gave him to teach him a lesson that animals as well as humans do not like to be tied up and kept as prisoners for doing nothing/ just being alive.
Also the significance to superstition an example of this is when cordelia cut her hand and wiped it with a tissue and carried it outside and buried it in the yard and covered it with a stone, also another reference is when Brother Man passed by cordelia and as soon as he left she throw a bucket of water on the door post where he walked to wash away his presence from her home.

"Much Ado About Nothing"-The significance of titles

Much Ado About Nothing is a romantic comedy that emphasizes what the title suggests; quarrels, the fights and the ignoring of others around. This romantic comedy is about characters who quarrel about issues that hold no real importance in their lives. In this play different characters fuss about their different scenarios about jealousy, love and emotions that were not necessary. And the plot was played out so that everyone has a chance to quarrel and get across their feelings in each scenarios and after then their quarrels are dissolved.
This play shows the intervention of characters in the different scenarios which were not necessary and could have ben prevented but occurred nevertheless.

William Shakespeare as we know is one of the greatest writers in the world in his time and is now recognized for his work up to this day. But to understand Shakespeare and his writing you have to first learn about his background and lifestyle.
Shakespeare was born in England on 23rd April, 1546. He was born to parents John Shakespeare and Mary Arden. John Shakespeare worked by producing farm products and wool then was elected into civil position within the community between 1557 and 1570, and later died in 1601. His mother Mary Arden died a little after her husband John Shakespeare in 1608. Shakespeare was the third child and the eldest son out of seven children. First was his sister Joan who was born in 1558 and died from a plague. Following her was his sister Margaret who was born in 1562 and died a year after he birth in 1563. After Margaret was William then Gilbert who was born n 1566, held a profession in Tradesman and Haberdasher and later died in 1612. After Gilbert was Joan who was born in 1569 and died in 1646. Following Joan was Anne which was conceived in 1571 and later died in 1579. And after Anne was Richard who was born in 1574 was died in 1613. And finally the last of seven children was Edmund who was conceived in 1580 and later died in 1607.
William Shakespeare's childhood was spent doing several things. He occupied his time either in school at the Stratford Grammar School (in which english was his favourite subject), or reading stories written by latin authors and by working in a butcher shop. He was later married in 1582 to an orphan Anne Hathaway. She became pregnant at the age of 26 in which she gave birth to Susanna in 1583. Then two years later the couple had twins Judith and Hamnet in 1585. Unfortunately Hamnet died in 1596.
From previous knowledge we have learned that William Shakespeare loved reading stories from an early age. Therefore he followed in the career path he was interested in from early childhood and became a poet, then actor and then a playwright. And produced the famous playwright Hamlet in 1602. Shakespeare upon his peaks had some lost years un which he used to his advantage and came back and accumulated his riches.
Shakespeare as we know today have written many plays and plays a meaningful role in how literature today was formed.

Brother Man Reflections 2

In the book Brother Man as i have read so far, there are alot of relationships and flaws in those relationships(no one had a good relationship per say). Also in Brother Man there are alot of themes that govern the book. These themes include domestic abuse, friendship, religion, family, and lusting for another man's woman. In Brother Man my perspective on the relationships that happen are not stable and have some sort of wedge or problem in them. For instance, Jesmina and Shine, the wedge or barrier in their relationship is Jesmina's sister Cordelia. And the only reason she is still living with her sister is because she swore on the Bible that she wouldnt leave her. Also domestic abuse or violence was present in Girlie's and Papacita's relationship. They both fought each other til they nearly kill each other because Papacita was trying to steal Brother Man's girl woman Minette and still have Girlie at home,(and here is where the love for another man's woman comes in). Friendship, I realise also plays an important aspect in Brother Man, especially for Jesmina and Brother Man. Everytime Jesmina has a trouble or worry she runs to Brother Man for the comfort and security to get reassurance and advice, to comfront her situation instead of confinding with Shine. But not only did Jesmina run to Brother Man for her problems, many villagers ran to him in their time of trouble and looked up to him as their healer. Religion also plays an importnat role. In the book, Brother Man is looked up to be a man of God or a blessed one, because he preached what the Bible said and did similar things to that of what Jesus did.But Brother Man was not the only man that the people went to, to heal their pains and to give advice to their problems. They went to Bra' Ambra which was a different type of religious man an obeah man. He ripped off people by charging high prices as noticed when Cordelia in her desperate time, to heal her son she gave him all the money she had that was to buy nourishment for her son. And he still wanted more. While Brother Man was different he never asked for payment for helping his neighbours but instead of charging them money he gave them money, just so long as he could help life be restored unto the people around him. And finally family,in this book family helps each other in their time or need and also as learned before put wedges in the others relationship because one's love was absent the other had to suffer and scarifices one more than for the other. For example, Cordelia and Jesmina they are sisters and Jesmina suffers and has to scarifice everything she wants and has in life to standby her sister in her time of need. Jesmina puts her all into getting her sister back to health when she was on her dying bed, to looking about her sister's mental status when her nephew was dying. She also puts her relationship on a strain with Shine because she would feel guilty leaving her sister in her time of need and not telling Shine what's troubling her when he wants to help her the most. And in a way you can see that because Cordelia's man is in prison and she can not be with him she is making life unfair for Jesmina and not allowing her to have the full freedom she wants all because she cant. And as i read I hope the bok continues to hold my interest and that everything becomes more clear for me.

Brother Man Reflection

I love this book. It stimulates me, and does not make me sleepy when I am reading this great book. Brother Man is such a hunk, according to Minette. But Papacita, that nasty dog, he just loves so much WOMEN!!! Wha happen to im so, jus to bad!
